A Two-component Ow with a Viscous and an Inviscid Uid

چکیده
We study the free boundary between a viscous uid and an invis-cid uid satisfying the Navier-Stokes and Euler equations respectively. Surface tension is incorporated. To simplify the equations we read them as a free boundary problem for one viscous uid with a nonlocal boundary force. A decomposition of the pressure distribution in the inviscid uid identiies the main part of the generator. It is used to derive a short time existence result for the two-phase problem.

An Adaptive Mesh Projection Method for Viscous Incompressible Flow
Many uid ow problems of practical interest|particularly at high Reynolds num-ber|are characterized by small regions of complex and rapidly-varying uid motion surrounded by larger regions of relatively smooth ow. EEcient solution of such problems requires an adaptive mesh reenement capability to concentrate computational eeort where it is most needed. We present in this paper a fractional-step v...

By means of He's homotopy perturbation method (HPM) an approximate solution of velocity eld is derived for the ow in straight pipes of non-Newtonian uid obeying the Sisko model. The nonlinear equations governing the ow in pipe are for- mulated and analyzed, using homotopy perturbation method due to He. Furthermore, the obtained solutions for velocity eld is graphically sketched...

Vortex methods for inviscid incompressible two-dimensional uid ow are usually based on blob approximations. This paper presents a vortex method in which the vorticity is approximated by a piecewise polynomial interpolant on a Delaunay triangulation of the vortices. An e cient reconstruction of the Delaunay triangulation at each step makes the method accurate for long times. The vertices of the ...

The paper describes the history of viscous-inviscid interaction methods, and tries to put them in a modern domain-decomposition context. This history started in 1904, when Ludwig Prandtl presented thèboundary layer' at the Third International Mathematical Congress in Heidelberg. From that moment on, the ow eld around a body was divided in two parts: a thin shear layer where viscosity plays a ro...
